Repairing Pyro Master pyrography soldering iron

Phil who does pyrography at the LYCC in Llandovery has three pyrography irons eith broken off bits. The bits are usually screwed in but none can be screwed in because the broken bits are in there.

Is there a way to repair that?

I thought about drilling into them again and then putting a new winding into the drilled hole. What do you think?

I will bring them to the makerspace and we can see what we can do about it.

That’s something we should be able to do, depending on the materials involved. We will need a pillar drill working though!

I was able to repair them: Drill them out with a 1mm and a 3mm drill. Then, using a thread maker, the thread was cut like a normal M4 bolt thread.
